Milan : Versus

Christopher Kane's collection for Versus has a school girl feel with tartan and satchels to boot.

I like the godets on this dress but I'm not sure about the boob cut-outs. they're a bit unnecessary and kind of feel like a slutty after thought which ruin the dress for me. I also love mixing the tartan with florals, because i love mixed prints as well as the school girl implication of tartan but think it s ruined again by the neck line. This is my own fault really for having such girlish taste.

Is this tartan on tartan too much? Probably but, this is versus after all and Christopher Kane does have to consider brand. If it was a little more broken up I think it would be better, but that is a styling issue. It very much reminds me of Cher in Clueless, whose lurid tartan suits I have always envyed, although these days young girls havn't seen that movie.

To be honest, despite all my complaints this really was a collection I liked, and I preferred this to Christoper Kane's own collection (which has been described as "Princess Margaret on acid" and "royal neon") which bordered on lurid and the main-line Versace which bordered on incredibly dull.
