A trend that not only did I spot, but I'm super pleased about is for skirts that flair out at the waist or hips with lots of volume. They flair out different amounts, in different ways, to create different shapes with different textures and colours. And yet New York, London, Milan and Paris all had them. The skater skirt has been particularly popular. I'm pleased for one because the silhouette of volume in the skirt is my favourite silhouette.
NEW YORK... (From Left to Right) Herve Leger by Max Azria, Rodarte, Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson, Betsey Johnson, Dennis Basso
LONDON...(From Left to Right) Paul Costello, Basso & Brooke, Felder Felder, Julien McDonald, David Koma and Mary Katranzou
MILAN... (From Left to Right) Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Luisa Beccaria
PARIS... (From Left to Right) Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Alexis Mabille, Chloe, Comme des Garcons, Rochas
The reason for this trend is potentially that so many designers were influenced by queen of fashion, Marie Antoinette (Alice by TEMPERLEY, Herve Leger by Max Azria) and the ballet russe (David Koma) as well as an all round sense of romanticism.
