Wishlist

1. Rabbit Nightlight - I know this nightlight is for children, but it's just so cute, look at it's little face. I'm just a big kid really.
2. Watermelon Shorts - I know it's freezing but I love these shorts. Hurry up summer, I want to wear fruit themed shorts!
3. Galaxy Tee - I love this spacey tee. Space prints is one of those trends I don't recommend spending a lot of money on because by next year it will look dated and old hat. This tee isn't too expensive  but doesn't look cheap.
4. Heart Patterned Trousers - So pretty, but without a huge price tag.
5. Cat Face Jumper - I really don't want to become a cat lady, but this jumper is sending me on a slippery slope.
6. Tartan Trousers - After sewing my sister a pair of tartan trousers and seeing some in Betty magazine I really want a pair too.

I made these cushions for my sister's birthday. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

Bomber Jackets for S/S 13

Since it is the new year, I'm already looking ahead to the new season S/S 13 and the trends I think are going to be popular next season. This trend integrates well with with Oriental trend and the iridescent trend.

Leather Skirt, Wool Jacket

A little outfit post from the Westfield, which was very quiet considering the sales were on. I didn't get anything in the sales, I couldn't find anything much I wanted.
My top is from Primark last summer, I quite like it and I don't think it looks very Primark. My jacket is from the charity shop, but it's from Laura Ashley. It's made of wool so it's super snuggly and warm, which I was quite surprised about. I think I look quite smart in this outfit. The skirt was from Select, I really like it, it's a bit nicer than my shiny one from Missguided although like the Missguided one it's made from PU so it is a bit uncomfortable on the tummy. Annoyingly the zip broke when I was taking it off, but I think that I can repair it.

models own winter wonderland southern lights

I got the model's own southern lights glitter polish from the winter wonderland collection for christmas from my sister. I really loved this whole collection so I was super pleased to get one. I put it on straight away. It took three coats to look dense enough, plus 2 coats of top coat because i hate the rough feel that glitter has. Its a rainbow holo sparkle polish with a purpley blue tone to it, one of those ones that is distracting because you could just sit and look at how sparkly it is.

I tried to use it as a top coat to add a bit of sparkle to a plain blue/black, but it looked ridiculous  The glitter is just too dense. I want to try just painting the tips with a pale blue base. Anyway I wanted to wear it again, but in a bit more interesting way so I put black polka dots over it. I use a dotting tool for my spots, for some reason I can manage this easily whereas a nail art pen I just mess up with.

I really want to get snowflakes but its currently sold out everywhere, the whole winter wonderland collection is. But one of the girls at the model's own bottle in Westfield told me it'll be coming back into stock in mid January.

My Home; Vintage Magazine

I bought this vintage magazine called 'My Home'. It's a British magazine and this one was printed in May 1955. It has some fun and interesting articles, one about how to lay lino with a 50s housewife with a knife in her hand ready to trim the edges and one about having a career in designing children's clothes. I like that in the 50s they encourage women to have careers, as long as they are lady careers.

If you want to see the pictures bigger, I've uploaded them to my tumblr and pintrest. I might add a few more scans of other pages too.

Oriental for S/S 13

Since it is the new year, I'm already looking ahead to the new season S/S 13 and the trends I think are going to be popular next season.

I love this oriental trend, it's kinda retro in a modern way. And it can be super subtle too, those are big dragons and tigers embroidered in white on the Emilio Pucci clothes. It's about more than bold prints and embroidery, it's about kimono style silhouettes and obi belts too. It's one of my ambitions to visit the far east, but until then this will do. I can't wait to buy into this trend.

Wildfox Clueless

I first saw Wildfox's new lookbook for S/S 13 on Studded Hearts and I straight away knew it was an homage to one of my all time favourite films Clueless. I actually wrote my year 11 spanish oral piece on how much I love Clueless. If you haven't seen Clueless, you must, it's the quintessential 90s teen movie, set in a school where the students are more concerned with their giant 90s phones and their nose jobs than lessons, as well as being proof that Paul Rudd doesn't age. (Has anyone else noticed that? The man's face literally hasn't changed in about 15 years.) I also really recommend the soundtrack of classic early 90s american pop.

The collection really pays tribute to the fashions of the films without seeming to dated or 90s. I'm going to start trying to dress more like Cher, Dionne and Tai. I now really regret throwing out my lime green furry mini rucksack. Perhaps I could make a new one. Or buy an inflatable one.

You can see more of the lookbook on Wildfox designer Kimberly Gordon's blog. I think I'm going to go watch some Daria.

Apologies for the big cut in the middle, it would seem blogger has a maximum height on its images.

Barry M Pink Nail Polish

I nearly bought this nail polish based solely on the fact that I like the way the lid looks like a screwed up sweetie wrapper. But I didn't fortunately because my friend Abi got it for me for christmas. I was really impressed with how opaque it was after just one coat. Definitely a polish for when you are in a rush.

I put two coats just to be sure and these are the results. I'm really impressed by this one. It doesn't appear to have a name though...

Has anyone else tried this nail polish or one of the other colours?

P.S. I don't know why my hands always look so red in photos, they aren't that red in real life! I didn't want to mess with the colour balance too much because then you wouldn't be able to see what the nail polish is like.

Iridescent for S/S 13

Since it is the new year, I'm already looking ahead to the new season S/S 13 and the trends I think are going to be popular next season. The second trend I think will be big is Iridescent. Iridescent looks are always popular in A/W and I think this year the trend carry forward in to S/S 13, but moving forward with a more pastel, silvery mermaidesque look. I'm really looking forward to buying into this trend. I love the mirrored dress from Moschino and the interesting modern fabrics used at Teatum Jones and Jonathan Saunders.

Bold Graphic Prints for S/S 13

Since it is the new year, I'm already looking ahead to the new season S/S 13 and the trends I think are going to be popular next season. The first trend I think will be big and also I really love is for bold graphic prints, particularly monochrome ones.

I really like the girly floral prints at Moschino, they are more detailed and less obvious that your typical checker board/striped graphic prints. I love the whole show by Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton, the way the catwalk matched the clothes. I love the simple yet femmine cuts contrasted with op-art style prints.
